What motivates you to get to the gym?

My son is my true inspiration. I must add, however, that I love working out with Nick. He is extremely knowledgeable about health and fitness and always encourages me to do my best. All the staff is great. This reason alone makes it easy to get to a gym that provides a warm familial environment.

Why did you choose to start a fitness lifestyles?

I was suffering from severe back problems, along with a few other health issues. I tried lots of other “easier” remedies, but to no avail. My orthopedist suggested I try a few weeks of physical therapy. I knew I needed a longer term fitness plan if I was going to see any results. Working out consistently and focusing on strengthening my core muscles has helped immensely.

I would suggest that they put themselves into autopilot mode. Don’t think about it much, just get to the gym and do it. There was a time when I found working out to be a chore, but I don’t anymore. It is absolutely part of my life now. I feel guilty if I were to miss a session.

Maria Burgos

I came to HOF in May having not worked out in 3 1/2 years. She knew she needed to get back into some kind of fitness program, she was feeling like her clothes were not longer “Fitting right”. Like anyone would be, she was nervous about starting back into a fitness program after being fairly inactive for so long. Her goals were to gain endurance, work on flexibility and lose weight. After 7 months she has had visible weight loss, increased both endurance and strength, not mention energy levels. She has been consistent working out 2-3 x a week with Shaun, 1-2 x a week spinning as well as maintained a sensible diet all while juggling a busy schedule. She looks fantastic and the House of Fitness team couldn’t be prouder.

Nice work, Maria! Keep it up.

Maria also took some time to contemplate important questions…

What motivates you to get to the gym?

House Of Fitness is convenient in terms of location. It is a quick walk from where I live. This makes it a lot easier to develop a

routine…and a lot harder to make excuses. I choose exercises/activities i enjoy doing. Making a good playlist also helps a lot. I try to find gym buddies. They don’t have to do the same workout as me or be my best friend. But I enjoy seeing them when I am at the gym. Change of routine is really important to me to avoid hitting the “plateau phase”. I also set goals but in small steps..it’s easier by doing it one step at a time.

Why did you choose to start a fitness lifestyle?

Exercising helps prevent me maintain weight loss. I am also turning 38 and I don’t want to fight diabetes, cholesterol, arthritis that may come in the next years…Coming to the gym also improves my mood and makes me feel better about my appearance.
